Time: 11 AM EST, 4 PM UK, 8 PM PK

Class Duration: 1 hour 30 min per session

Course Description: The aim of this series is to introduce the discipline of Islamic spirituality called tasawwuf referred to as “tazkiyah” in the Quran and as “ihs?n” in the Sunnah.

Tasawwuf is that branch of Islam which guides the believer along the path of reform, development and purification of the human soul, via divine guidance, Prophetic example and individual effort, to attain its most elevated form, that of the tranquil soul (nafs al-mu?ma’inna), this in turn enabling the believer to practice the teachings of the Quran and Sunnah at the station of excellence (ihs?n).

The workshop will provide an introductory overview of Islamic spirituality – its basis in the Quran and Sunnah, its history and formal development, its goals and objectives, its practices and features, as well as address some popular misconceptions regarding this tradition, marking a clear distinction between Islamic and “non-Islamic” spirituality.
